Tissue Fillers
Tissue fillers are products injected into the skin to correct lines, wrinkles, scars, skin folds and to restore volume. There are many available, each with its own advantages. At Renaissance, we have chosen to use Restylane and Radiesse based on their therapeutic effects, safety profile and lasting results. What is Restylane? Restylane is a cosmetic dermal filler that is used to restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as the nasolabial folds. Restylane is an FDA approved non-animal based hyaluronic acid, or sugar, found in the skin. It is a crystal clear gel made of non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid. In this form it is completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid. Because it is a naturally occurring substance in humans it rarely causes any type of allergic reaction and test injection are not necessary. The results from Restylane last approximately 6 months and sometimes up to 1 year. What Can Restylane Treat? Restylane can be used to treat deep wrinkles and folds just about anywhere on the face; however, it has only been FDA approved for treatment of the nasolabial folds. Other common sites are:

Radiesse is also cosmetic dermal filler that is used to restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as the nasolabial folds. Radiesse is an FDA approved filler made of calcium hydroxylapatite, that is natrually found in the body, in a water based gel carrier. Once injected into the skin it not only fills to correct wrinkles but also acts as a "scaffold", stimulating collagen production and encouraging tissue growth in and around the injection site. Thus, it does more that temporarily correct lines and wrinkles. It actually helps to rebuild your skin's natural foundation. This new technology produces results lasting 12 to 18 months and sometimes longer. What Can Radiesse Treat? At Renaissance, we typically use Radiesse to fill the more severe lines, wrinkles and folds. Other common sites are:

Your treatment will be performed by Dr Snook. It will usually last from 15 to 60 minutes depending upon the area/s being treated. Afterwards, there may be bleeding, bruising and swelling which may last up to 2 weeks. To help avoid bruising and bleeding aspirin, Vitamin E supplements, Ibuprofen or equivalents, or St. John’s Wort should be avoided for 1 week prior to the procedure. We recommend that you don’t undergo treatment with Restylane or Radiesse for at least 2-3 weeks before a big event. It is important to remember that the area may appear “over or under” treated immediately after the procedure and may continue to appear this way for up to 2 weeks. After this time period, a follow up visit will be arranged to determine if any touch ups are necessary. Restylane and Radiesse are very safe procedures The most common risks are bleeding, which is usually minimal, bruising and swelling. The bruising and swelling may last up to 2-3 weeks. Other possible side effects have been described and include redness, pain, itching and infection. While most adverse events resolve over a 2-4 day time period, some may take up to one year if ever to resolve. Reactivation of Herpes Simplex 1 may occur near the injection sites causing the development of cold sores. Patients with a history of cold sores will need to be pretreated with an anti-viral medication to help prevent this. Restylane Rewards As an added bonus, Restylane offers Restylane Rewards to allow you can earn up to $475.00 for being a loyal Restylane customer. Starting with your first treatment, you will receive Restylane Rewards Benefit checks.
